once the thanksgiving turkey was put away for future pot pies or turkey veggie soup, granny and papa would ready their place for the christmas gathering of the clan.  their farm was the primary location for most holidays throughout the year - with some relief from aunt elsie who sported gigantic cypress trees and the never-ending puzzle.  aunt elsie was also the only one who dared to serve cheesy grits...

as part of the christmas prep, the kids would climb the same ancient oak tree from the fall harvest to collect mistletoe, clip sprigs of varied hollies, and trek the back 40 to find the perfect pine tree to grace the living room.  granny and papa's pines were very much like those from our pine barrens on long island out east.  sometimes it took hours to find just the right shape or height and then we had to drag it back to the farmhouse where hot cocoa and warm cookies were awaiting our arrival. and while we were out hunting, she emptied the storage room of decorations and readied popcorn and cranberries for the garland we would make to wrap around the tree.  now the best part of this day was upon dressing the tree - we laid out palettes on the floor and slept under its boughs dreaming of sugar cane and plum fairies.

the clever and thoughtful creations from catstudio remind us of those warm memories from our past.  whether it be of christmas stories, an amazing ski trip or the state of our college of choice, these embroidered delights are made-by-hand, signed, and dated for design.  always in limited editions, the patterns may also be available in frosted tumblers and dish towels.  TheBarn continuously stocks holiday favorites and regional destinations for year-round gift-giving opportunities.
